KBU International College’s much awaited event, SEQUENCE 15, was held from 26-28 June 2015, at the Highstreet Wing of 1 Utama Shopping Centre. The event is a platform where the awe-inspiring final-year projects made by students of Graphic Design, Interior Architecture & Design and Furniture & Product Design are showcased to the public.

“The annual exhibition, which is in its 12th year, encourages our students to be new-age designers. It is also a platform for potential employers to headhunt our award-winning students,” said KBU Principal Dr. Chee Choong Kooi.

He added that in many instances, KBU students were employed on the spot by the industry leaders. This shows that KBU students are of high calibre and talented in their field of specialties,” he added.

The design programmes are conducted at KBU in collaboration with Nottingham Trent University - a UK university that has more than 150 years of experience in design education.

KBU Chief Executive Tan Sri Dato (Dr) Teo Chiang Liang inaugurated the graduation showcase, in the presence of the guest of honour, Malaysian Furniture Council President Mr. Chua Chun Chai and KBU Principal Dr. Chee Choong Kooi.

Themed “Full Moon”, the exhibition reflected on students’ enriched education experience at KBU, which shaped them to be well-rounded designers; just as the full moon which has completed its phase.

“The theme also shows how students strive through each and every learning process, to shine the brightest. KBU students are equipped with the skills and knowledge that give them the confidence as new design professionals and they are now prepared for yet another challenging learning cycle in the industry,” said Dr. Chee.

During the exhibition, the public will be able to witness remarkable artworks which were inspired by form, space, colour, imagery and typography in relation to the social, economic and cultural context.

Seven of KBU design graduates will be awarded the First Class Honours degree in the upcoming Nottingham Trent University graduation ceremony. The graduating class of 2015 has also made KBU proud by winning numerous awards such as the Beijing’s Asia Pacific Designer Federation’s IAI Awards, Maybank’s #MakeitYourM2U Competition, Cherating Sand Challenge 2015, Malaysian International Furniture Fair (MIFF) Design Award and Malaysian Institute of Interior Designers (MIID) Reka Awards 2014, among others.
