2. APPLY FOR STUDENT VISA
  • Upon your acceptance of our Letter of Offer, First City UC will submit the application for your Student Visa to the Immigration Department of Malaysia via Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS)
  • The Student Visa application process may take 4-8 weeks
  • The Immigration Department of Malaysia will issue a Visa Approval Letter (VAL) to successful applicants
  • First City UC will forward a copy of the VAL to the applicant
  • The student must obtain a Single Entry Visa (SEV) from the Malaysian Embassy/Consulate
  • The student will then make his/her travel plans to Malaysia and inform First City UC at least 2 weeks before your departure date
3. OBTAIN PRE-DEPARTURE DOCUMENT

The VAL is not equivalent to a Student Visa.

With the VAL, foreign students have to obtain a Single Entry Visa (SEV) from a Malaysian Embassy or Consulate overseas before entering Malaysia. However, if you are a citizen of a country that does not require a visa to enter Malaysia, you will be able to enter Malaysia provided you produce the VAL at the point of entry. Failure to produce a VAL may result in you not being allowed to enter the country.

Note:

Students from countries without a Malaysian Embassy / Consulate may obtain Visa On Arrival from the Immigration counter at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).

4. ARRIVE IN MALAYSIA
  • To ensure a smooth arrival, make sure you inform First City UC details of your flight to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA Main Terminal or KLIA2), at least 2 weeks before departing from your country
  • Upon arrival at KLIA, you will be required to show your Visa Approval Letter (VAL) & original Offer Letter from First City UC at the Malaysia Immigration counter where a First City UC staff will greet you
  • Upon immigration clearance, your transportation to First City UC will be provided
5. GET STUDENT PASS & iKAD
  • Within 7 days of your arrival, First City UC will arrange for a medical screening at an EMGS approved clinic
  • You need to be certified as “Fit to Study” before your Student Visa can be issued by the Immigration Department of Malaysia
  • First City UC will then arrange for your medical and hospitalization insurance
  • First City UC will submit your passport to EMGS for Student Visa endorsement
  • Subsequently, Immigration Department of Malaysia will issue you a Student Identity Card (iKad)
