The Centre for Excellence in Learning & Teaching (CELT) kickstarted the year with an enriching workshop titled “Enhancing Teaching Pedagogy in Higher Education,” held on 8 and 9 January 2024. Hosted at the Lecture Hall in the Centre for Postgraduate Studies, this event brought together 23 academic staff members from diverse faculties and centres, fostering a collaborative exchange of ideas and methodologies.

Under the guidance of Ms. Melissa Lee Phooi Kuan, a seasoned educator with over 17 years of experience in teaching English and Public Speaking, the workshop delved into multifaceted dimensions of pedagogy in higher education.

The comprehensive agenda spanned critical aspects, including understanding pedagogy’s role in student learning, designing effective learning experiences, strategies for student engagement, assessment techniques, integration of technology in teaching, and the significance of reflective practice.

Participants emerged empowered, equipped with refined pedagogical insights and practical tools to craft engaging, inclusive, and impactful learning environments. The workshop’s success lay in its emphasis on practical applicability, fostering a community of practice among the participants, and providing a platform for sharing experiences and best practices.

The engaging and insightful workshop had certainly enabled the delighted participants to champion innovative teaching approaches for the benefit of the students of their respective faculties and centres.
