First City University College and Alpine Legacy (M) Sdn Bhd came together on 8 November 2023 to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

The MOU signing marks the beginning of an exciting partnership that aims to “Reimagine Retail Space” through an innovative design competition. The competition is designed to provide a platform for the talented students from the Faculty of Design & Built Environment (FDBE) to showcase their creativity and innovation in the field of interior design. It also reinforces the commitment of both parties to provide the best educational experience to aspiring designers.

The ceremony, held at FDBE’s White Canvas Gallery, witnessed a gathering of guests, including the Vice-Chancellor of First City University College, Professor Dr. Saw Sor Heoh, the General Manager of Alpine Legacy, Mr. Alan Mak Wee Ming, FDBE Dean Assistant Professor Chua Huwi Huwi, and the Manager of The 5 Elements Hotel, Ms. Devamary A/P Anthony Dass.

The collaboration brings academia and industry together, as Alpine Legacy will be working closely with FDBE to prepare the ‘Competition Brief’ and facilitate the necessary coordination for the competition. Alpine Legacy has generously granted participating students access to their premises and information about Kompleks Selangor in Kuala Lumpur, offering a real-world context that is invaluable for the development of their designs. This practical exposure bridges the gap between theory and practice, ensuring that students are well-prepared for a successful career in the ever-evolving design industry.
