Malaysia is facing a shortage of Software Engineers and Developers. The situation today has not improved much as the Government is still in urgent need for more students to make the plunge into the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) field.<\/p>\n

The National Policy on Science, Technology and Innovation 2021-2030 aims to intensify local technology development and application efforts. This is to ensure that more STEM graduates will be capable of contributing to Malaysia\u2019s Digital Economy.<\/p>\n

For 30 years and counting, First City University College, through the Faculty of Engineering and Computing (FEC) has worked hard to produce STEM graduates, including those with Software Engineering expertise to meet the needs of the job market.<\/p>\n

FEC in particular, has strived to create a leading, innovative, dynamic and diverse centre for academic excellence, with the mission of empowering Malaysia\u2019s next generation of world-class engineering and computing professionals.<\/p>\n

Students with Foundation, UEC or A-Level qualifications are enrolled into Year 1 of FEC\u2019s Bachelor Degree programmes whereas students with a relevant Diploma can progress to Year 2.<\/p>\n

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by First City UC with Iconix grants students access to learning tools such as the ARM Internet of Things (IoT) platform.<\/p>\n

Moreover, students have the opportunity to conceptualise and implement their own Final Year projects before showcasing them at the annual Innovation Day event. First City UC\u2019s industry partners have been known to attend this event and even offer jobs to outstanding students.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n

The Bachelor of Software Engineering (Hons) programme equips students with the knowledge and technical competencies in software engineering to thrive in the current Information & Communications Technology (ICT) field.<\/p>\n

The modules in the programme focus on areas such as system analysis & design, software requirements engineering, software development, software testing and quality assurance. Moreover, they are taught in-demand programme languages such as SQL, C++, C, C#, PHP, Java Script, Java, HTML, CSS and Python.<\/p>\n

By the time students undergo their internships, they will be able demonstrate the ability to provide innovative and creative software solutions, in addition to possessing competent communication, teamwork, leadership, entrepreneurial and social skills.<\/p>\n

Graduates will be prepared for a global career in fields such as Software Design & Development, Programming, Cloud Computing, IoT Systems Programming, Mobile Application Development, Systems Analysis & Design, Web Development, Network Design, Integration & Maintenance, Database Administration as well as IT Consultancy.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
