On 8 December 2023, the Student Services Department and Centre of General Studies hosted a Consumer Empowerment Lecture Programme by the Federation of Malaysian
\nConsumers Associations (FOMCA).<\/p>\n

FOMCA is on a tour organising the lecture programme in collaboration with the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDN), and the Ministry of Higher Education (KPT).<\/p>\n

With the rise of online scams, FOMCA aimed to inform participants about the different tactics used by scammers to target vulnerable users. Mr. Tamilarasan, FOMCA’s Executive, and Ts. Arsamy Arsad from the Wireless Communication Centre (WCC) at UTM served as key speakers for the programme.<\/p>\n

The lecture covered various topics, including the rights and responsibilities of users in the digital era, tips for reducing electrical usage and lowering bills through energy efficiency, and an overview of digital financial fraud, with a specific focus on online scams.<\/p>\n

The programme concluded with students and staff enjoying light refreshments, courtesy of FOMCA’s generous contribution of RM300.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
