In a display of environmental consciousness and community engagement, First City University College\u2019s recent Recycling Campaign, organized by the Student Services Department in collaboration with the Lovely Disabled Home, exceeded all expectations. Originally slated to run from 21 \u2013 31 December 2023, the campaign’s overwhelming success prompted an extension until 10 January 2024, culminating in a Collection Day on 11 January 2024.<\/p>\n

The campaign targeted a diverse array of recyclable items, ranging from paper and plastic to clothes and electrical appliances. First City University College\u2019s staff and students enthusiastically embraced the initiative, contributing generously to the cause. Head of Student Services, Weladavi Rahula and Teh Chia Li, the Recycling Campaign coordinator were impressed that some donations featured high-quality items in excellent condition, showcasing the community’s commitment to sustainability.<\/p>\n

All collected items underwent meticulous processing at the Lovely Disabled Home’s recycling centre. This centre, staffed by physically and mentally challenged individuals, not only contributes significantly to environmental conservation but also serves as a vital source of income for its dedicated workforce. The organization’s commitment to social responsibility is evident in their well-organized process of sorting and recycling items, creating valuable job opportunities for their members.<\/p>\n

The success of the Recycling Campaign not only highlights First City University College\u2019s dedication to environmental sustainability but also underscores the positive impact on the Lovely Disabled Home and its community. As a testament to the campaign’s success, this collective effort not only promotes responsible waste management but also fosters a sense of community and inclusivity.<\/p>\n
