Following the briefing of the \u2018CLV GLASSTECH YDA2024 Reflection of Creativity Creative Glass and Mirror Furniture Design Competition\u2019 on 7 February 2024, four students from the Faculty of Design and Built Environment were selected for the final presentation, which took place on 30 June 2024 at KL Eco City. These students\u2014Lew Xiao Wei, Lai Jing Ting, Yap Li Kean, and Bernard Chong Yi Yang\u2014developed unique furniture designs that showcased their creativity and commitment to sustainability.<\/p>
Lew Xiao Wei’s PRISMIRROR table featured a geometric, prism-inspired design with customisable coloured glass and mirror surfaces, creating a versatile and striking centrepiece suitable for various settings. This table serves as a focal point in innovative workspaces, ideal for young professionals, by inspiring creativity and collaboration with its space-saving and versatile design. Similarly, Lai Jing Ting’s ROYGBIV coffee table utilised tinted glass in rainbow colours to produce a vivid, harmonious visual effect that interacted with natural light, making it an eye-catching and a versatile addition to living rooms, lounges, and offices.<\/p>
Additionally, Yap Li Kean’s Chinensis Lam coffee table, inspired by the Ixora Chinensis Lam flower, incorporated a two-layer design and central lighting element to symbolize renewal and unity, adding a warm and inviting glow to any space. Not to forget, Bernard Chong Yi Yang’s Eco Weaves Glass project which highlighted sustainability through the use of eco-friendly materials and production methods. Inspired by the fluid movements of seaweed, the design featured transparent glass shelves and a minimalist frame, creating an illusion of weightlessness.<\/p>
The final presentation on 30 July 2024 showcased the exceptional creativity and innovative spirit of these four students. Their projects not only reflected the theme of the competition but also set a high standard for future design endeavours, demonstrating the potential of glass and mirror as key elements in modern interior design.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
