On 19 and 26 July 2024, the Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching hosted a two-part training session on “Effective Classroom Management and Communication.” The programme brought together 25 academic staff members from various faculties and centres. The aim was to help educators identify different learning styles and develop effective classroom management strategies.<\/p>
The training covered a range of topics over two days, including teaching methodology, effective classroom management, and communication techniques tailored for Gen Z and Gen Alpha. Participants explored various teaching methods, addressed classroom management problems, and engaged in strategies for effective communication. The programme also included sessions on adapting teaching methods to engage with diverse student groups and embracing continuous learning and emerging trends in education.<\/p>
Dr. Ahmad Faris Naqiyuddin from the Centre for General Studies remarked, \u201cAttending the workshop provided substantial benefits. It significantly enhanced my classroom management skills, equipping me with effective strategies to handle disruptive behaviours and foster positive student engagement.\u201d Yap Min Chen from the Centre for Language and Extension Service added, \u201cThe speaker demonstrated exceptional knowledge, and the methods I learned during the training have proven to be incredibly useful.\u201d<\/p>
The training emphasized the importance of equipping educators with the skills necessary to adapt to the diverse needs of today\u2019s learners.
