{"id":50736,"date":"2025-06-03T09:00:42","date_gmt":"2025-06-03T01:00:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/firstcity.edu.my\/?p=50736"},"modified":"2026-02-12T08:54:47","modified_gmt":"2026-02-12T00:54:47","slug":"design-students-explore-spatial-narratives-and-heritage-through-field-visit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/firstcity.edu.my\/cn\/design-students-explore-spatial-narratives-and-heritage-through-field-visit\/","title":{"rendered":"Design Students Explore Spatial Narratives and Heritage Through Field Visit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Students from First City University College\u2019s Bachelor of Interior Architecture and Design (BIAD) and Diploma in Interior Design (DID) programmes participated in a field trip titled \u201cInterpreting History Through Space,\u201d on 3rd June 2025.<\/p><p>The study visit centred on two historically significant sites in Kuala Lumpur; the Kompleks Selangor Building and the Sin Sze Si Ya Temple Museum. At Kompleks Selangor, students explored how modern commercial needs can coexist with historical preservation through adaptive reuse strategies. Meanwhile, the Sin Sze Si Ya Temple offered deep insights into sacred spatial arrangements, cultural symbolism, and the architectural storytelling embedded within traditional temple design.<\/p><p>\u201cKompleks Selangor showed me how modern functions can exist within historical spaces,\u201d said Carlos Lee Ming Jun from Diploma in Interior Design. \u201cWalking through Petaling Street and the temple grounds reminded me that good design always respects its context,\u201d added Wong Zi Ning from Bachelor of Interior Architecture and Design.<\/p><p>The trip enhanced students\u2019 understanding of architectural heritage and also inspired them to integrate context-aware thinking into their future design projects.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Students from First City University College\u2019s Bachelor of Interior Architecture and Design (BIAD) and Diploma in Interior Design (DID) programmes participated in a field trip titled \u201cInterpreting History Through Space,\u201d [&hellip;]<\/p>","protected":false},"author":11,"featured_media":50738,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_yoast_wpseo_title":"Interior Design Students Explore KL Heritage | First City UC","_yoast_wpseo_metadesc":"See our interior design students' field visit to Kuala Lumpur's heritage sites.
