BUILD YOUR FUTURE WITH FIRST CITY UC’S FOUNDATION PROGRAMME
8 Jun 2021
As the world continues to adapt to the unforeseen changes brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic, there remains one constant.
Knowledge and skills, particularly those pertaining to Industrial Revolution (I.R) 4.0 will drive the future development of our future industries. Banking on its more than 30 years of educational experience, First City University College has continuously contributed graduates capable of meeting the current market needs.
These successes often begin with a student’s decision to enroll in First City UC’s Foundation programmes, which is offered by all three faculties- Faculty of Design & Built Environment (FDBE), Faculty of Engineering & Computing (FEC) and the Faculty of Business, Hospitality & Communication (FBHC).
First City UC’s respective Foundation programmes are crafted with the intention of inculcating students’ Critical Thinking and Communication skills, which are crucial for lessons at the Degree level.
Foundation in Art & Design (FAD)
Students with a strong passion to establish design related career are welcome to enrol with First City UC’s Foundation in Art & Design (FAD) programme. Offered by the Faculty of Design and Built Environment, the FAD programme aims to equip students with a broad range of art and design fundamental principles, as well as identify each student’s individual design strengths.
FAD students are given ample opportunity to engage in practical studio work such as drawing, experimentation, exploration of media and material, and model making. Moreover, they develop key skills such as visual analysis, colour studies, and critical writing.
By the end of their Third Semester project, students will be able to identify whether they should progress to Graphic Design or Interior Architecture & Design or Furniture & Product Design or Fashion Marketing Degree programmes.
Foundation in Business Administration (FBA)
Offered by the Faculty of Business, Hospitality & Communication, the Foundation in Business Administration programme equips students with a solid foundation in business studies in order to progress further to Bachelor Degree level studies.
Throughout the FBA programme, students will develop communication, critical thinking, writing, presentation and problem-solving skills. In terms of soft skills, students will build up their self-confidence and ethical values.
After completing this programme, graduates may proceed to the following Degree programmes: Accounting & Finance, Marketing, Business Management, Mass Communication as well as Tourism Management.
As an added advantage, FBA graduates who possess a credit in SPM Mathematics may opt for the Bachelor of Information Systems (Hons) in Business Management, offered by the Faculty of Engineering & Computing.
