BUILD YOUR FUTURE WITH FIRST CITY UC’S FOUNDATION PROGRAMMES

Knowledge and skills, particularly those pertaining to Industrial Revolution (I.R) 4.0 will drive the future development of our future industries. Banking on more than 30 years of educational experience, First City University College has continuously produced graduates capable of meeting the current market needs.

These successes often begin with a student’s decision to enroll in First City UC’s Foundation programmes, which are offered by all three faculties – Faculty of Design & Built Environment (FDBE), Faculty of Engineering & Computing (FEC) and the Faculty of Business, Hospitality & Communication (FBHC).

First City UC’s respective Foundation programmes are crafted with the intention of inculcating students’ Critical Thinking and Communication skills, which are crucial for lessons at the Degree level.

Students get to experience practical studio work such as drawing, experimentation and exploration of media and material, and model making

Foundation in Art & Design (FAD)

Students with a strong passion to establish design-related careers are welcome to enrol in First City UC’s Foundation in Art & Design (FAD) programme. Offered by the Faculty of Design and Built Environment, the FAD programme equips students with a broad range of art and design fundamental principles, as well as identifies and develops each student’s individual design strengths.

FAD students are given ample opportunity to engage in practical studio work such as drawing, experimentation, exploration of media and material, model making, visual analysis and colour studies.

When the students complete their Third Semester projects, they can progress to the Graphic Design, Interior Architecture & Design, Furniture & Product Design or Fashion Marketing degree programmes.

Foundation in Business Administration (FBA)

Offered by the Faculty of Business, Hospitality & Communication, the Foundation in Business Administration programme equips students with a solid foundation in business studies for them to progress to the Bachelor Degree programmes.

Throughout the FBA programme, students develop communication, critical thinking, writing, presentation and problem-solving skills to build up their self-confidence.

After completing this programme, they can progress to the Accounting & FinanceMarketingBusiness Management, Mass Communication or Hospitality Management degree programmes.

FBA graduates who possess a credit in SPM Mathematics can also progress to the Bachelor of Information Systems (Hons) in Business Management, offered by the Faculty of Engineering & Computing.

Students will gain communication, critical thinking, writing, presentation, and problem-solving skills in content-specific modules

Latest industry-relevant software is installed in computer labs used in the class of Computer-Aided Design, Mobile App Development, Software Development, Electronic Computer-Aided Design, etc.

Foundation in Engineering, Science & Technology (FEST)

Students looking to establish a professional career in Engineering or Computing fields can start with the Foundation in Engineering, Science & Technology (FEST) programme. Offered by the Faculty of Engineering and Computing, FEST provides students with a solid foundation in analytical techniques, design procedures and study skills.

As part of FEST’s curriculum, students will be trained to use relevant industrial hardware and software, and educated in the social and ethical implications of engineering, science, and technology applications.

Students who choose to pursue the Engineering pathway (leading to Electronic Engineering or Mechanical Engineering degree programmes) will learn modules such as Mechanics, Applied Physics and Engineering Mathematics. Students who opt for the Computing pathway (leading to Software Engineering, Intelligent Systems, Networking & Security or Business Information Systems degree programmes) will learn modules such as Software Design Techniques, Systems Analysis and Design and Web Design.

Prospective Foundation students should enrol quickly for the January 2022 intake to enjoy First City UC’s 50% Tuition Fee Waiver, ZERO Registration Fee, as well as secure attractive scholarships and financial assistance. These include the First City Merit Scholarship, UEC Scholarship and many more.

In addition, upon successful completion of any of our Foundation programmes, you can enjoy up to 30% tuition fee waiver (for the entire programme) when you enrol for any of our degree programmes. Our interest-free tuition fee instalment payment plan is also available!
