21st Edition of Sequence Graduation Showase Launched at 1 Utama Shopping Centre

The launch of the 21st Edition of SEQUENCE Graduation Showcase took place on 23 June 2023 at 1 Utama Shopping Centre in Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya. Organized by the Faculty of Design & Built Environment (FDBE) of First City University College, this captivating event showcased the projects of graduating students from the BA (Honours) in Graphic Design and BA (Hons) Furniture & Product Design programmes.

The launch ceremony was officiated by Carl Loo, the CEO of Solidwater, along with First City University College’s Board of Governors & Director, Tan Sri Dato’ (Dr) Teo Chiang Liang, and Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Saw Sor Heoh. Also present were Assistant Professor Chua Huwi Huwi, the FDBE Dean, Associate Professor Dr Debbie Gan, the FDBE Deputy Dean, industry partners, representatives from professional organizations, and faculty members.

In her welcome address, Prof. Dr. Saw underscored the significance of SEQUENCE in highlighting the comprehensive and distinctive education provided to the graduating FDBE students. She emphasized that the design programmes offered at FDBE would effectively prepare them to excel as accomplished and successful professional designers.

Carl Loo extended his congratulations to the students for their outstanding projects, which showcased their extraordinary artistic abilities and inventive thinking. While addressing the audience, he reminisced about the Way Ahead Fashion Festival (WAFF), an event managed by the students of the Faculty of Design & Built Environment. Loo mentioned how his company, 3D Particle (XR Stage Malaysia), collaborated with FDBE students then to produce an awe-inspiring virtual fashion show.

To commemorate the completion of three industry collaborative projects with FDBE’s industry partners, namely Vivar Printing Sdn Bhd, Kian Contract Sdn Bhd, and Avante Hotel, three prize-giving ceremonies were organized alongside the launch of the showcase to honour the student achievers.
