
Overview of BA (Hons) Furniture & Product Design
Product, art, design, manufacturing material, creativity and project methodology…these are all important aspects of the BA (Hons) Furniture & Product Design programme. Through the programme, you will gain in-depth knowledge of various furniture and product materials and properties as well as the layout of the furniture and product design industry.
Our Furniture and Product Design Bachelor Degree programme aims to produce designers that are able to meet the changing and evolving needs of the profession today. The programme develops students’ creativity by providing the technical and theoretical knowledge required for them to thrive in this industry.
Graduates of this programme should be able to:
- Theoretical and practice learning with experienced teachers and trainers will help you build skills necessary to work with companies and on relevant industries projects.
- High profile designs, expensive and luxury home, office & workplace furniture items to create a comfortable environment.
- Students are given the opportunity to explore and innovate in the field of both product and furniture design through constant collaboration with industry players. Live projects provide students with actual industry experience.
- The student’s exploration of various materials and manufacturing techniques is paired with a strong emphasis and understanding of user-centered design – ensuring that their designs are always underpinned by social, cultural and ethical sensitivities.
- Exhibit creativity and show a personal aesthetic sensitivity through his/ her design
- Apply self-management techniques, independent study and explore within the context of ambiguity, uncertainty and unfamiliarity
- Demonstrate the ability for critical engagement and formulate independent judgements through exploration of design
