Overview of  Diploma in Hospitality & Tourism Management

 

The tourism industry is one of the key economic sectors in Malaysia  Every year billions of Ringgit are spent by tourists around the globe. The Diploma in Hospitality & Tourism Management equips students with the ability to demonstrate advanced knowledge of kitchen management, food, and beverage management as well as tourism planning and management.

 

Students will attend an internship programme where they will have an opportunity to obtain hands-on experience at leading hotels, travel agencies, event companies, food service outlets, and entertainment service providers.

Learning Outcome

Upon completion, students are expected to be able to:

 

  •  Students will learn how to create strategies for tourism development with the implementation of effective processes in the hospitality and tourism management industry.
  • Students will learn about the different cultures of clients around the globe to provide the best hospitality and tourism environment
  • Develop a critically introspective view on how tourist think and behave
  • Develop an awareness of the range of activities occurring in the hospitality and tourism industry as well as the perspectives on these activities
  • Develop and gain practical experience in different aspects of the hospitality industry
  • Gain insights into the technologies and techniques used in hospitality and tourism management
  • Create awareness of significant issues and its implications to the hospitality and tourism industry
  • Increase knowledge and understanding of the hospitality and tourism terminology and concepts
  • Develop an in-depth understanding into specific aspects of the hospitality and tourism industry, as well as its management practices
  • Increase knowledge of the changing nature of the hospitality and tourism industry
  • Encourages creativity, entrepreneurial thinking and initiative
  • Understand and apply principles of business and management into the hospitality and tourism industry
  • Improve communication skills – spoken, written, interpersonal and in presentations.
