INVEST IN YOUR FUTURE CAREER PATHWAY WITH A SOLID FOUNDATION PROGRAMME
The current global economic landscape, shaped by the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, appears rugged and steep for anyone to navigate through.
Doubtlessly, you would have come across numerous news reports of job losses due to the impact of Covid-19. If this trend continues, many Malaysians will end up unemployed! Indeed, we now live in challenging times!
Even as Malaysia’s economy struggles to recover, it is becoming more certain that those seeking to enter the job market will have to possess more than just the relevant industrial skills. As businesses everywhere start adopting technological solutions to cope with the “new normal”, so too must current employees and future graduates acquaint themselves with aspects of Industrial Revolution 4.0 in order to maximise their job prospects.
Prospective students looking for the right tertiary study programme can find assurance in First City University College’s stellar record of producing industry-relevant graduates for the past 30 years, which includes the daunting 1997 and 2009 global economic downturns.

Many First City UC alumni wrote the first chapter of their success story by enrolling as Foundation students, before transitioning into their Bachelor Degree programmes. Besides being accredited by the Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA), all foundation programmes are taught by a team of lecturers equipped with adequate industrial experience.
Foundation in Art & Design (FAD)
Students with aspirations for a design related career are welcome to enrol for First City UC’s Foundation in Art & Design (FAD) programme. This one-year programme
offered by the Faculty of Design and Built Environment, enjoys great appeal among art students as a result of its curriculum being adapted from reputable UK Art Programmes.
Throughout the FAD programme, students can expect to be exposed to a wide range of Art and Design activities while familiarising themselves with practical studio work.
Also, students will develop their visual awareness, analytical and critical approach of visual research and also familiarise themselves with contemporary theory and practice in Art and Design.
Through their Third Semester Project, students will be able to identify whether they should continue on to Graphic Design, Interior Architecture & Design, Furniture & Product Design or Fashion Marketing.
Foundation in Business Administration (FBA)
Offered by the Faculty of Business, Hospitality & Communication (FBHC), the one-year long Foundation in Business Adminstration introduces students to the basics of business. Students will acquire the necessary creative, intellectual and critical awareness, enabling them to become better problem solvers.
During their Third Semester, students will have the opportunity to select their preferred elective subjects. Those looking to continue with a business-related degree are encouraged to opt for modules such as Cost & Management Accounting, Business Statistics and Organisational Behaviour.

Foundation in Engineering, Science & Technology (FEST)
Students looking to establish a solid career in Engineering and Computing fields should start with the Foundation in Engineering, Science & Technology programme.
The one-year programme, offered by the Faculty of Engineering and Computing, educates students on the social and ethical implications in the respective fields.
Moreover, FEST equips students with interpersonal and communication skills in a group working environment, which is crucial for their Bachelor Degree assignments involving the laboratory. In order to hone their problem-solving skills, students will be given scenarios that will require them to rely on critical thinking skills.
Starting from the second semester, students will be given the option of choosing an Engineering or Computing pathway. Those who choose the Engineering pathway (leading to Electronic and Mechanical Engineering) will be exposed to subjects such as Mechanics, Applied Physics and Engineering Mathematics while the Computing pathway (Software Engineering, Computer Science (Intelligent Systems), Information Systems and Information Technology) offers subjects such as Software Design Techniques, Systems Analysis and Design and Web Design.
