CLOUD COMPUTING – A WORKSHOP ON VIRTUAL MACHINES AND SERVERLESS ARCHITECTURES

On 31 July 2024, the Centre of Postgraduate Studies hosted a training session titled “Exploring the Distinctions: Virtual Machines vs. Serverless Architectures in Cloud Computing Platforms.” The event, led by Hernando Ivan Teddy, a Senior Software Engineer at Ørsted Malaysia, was attended by 14 staff members and 28 students.

The session provided valuable insights for both staff members and students interested in IT careers. Participants learned about the practical applications of virtual machines and serverless architectures in professional settings. The training included demonstrations of popular cloud computing platforms such as Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, AWS, and Postman.

Venice Tam Yu Han, a student from the Bachelor of Electronic Engineering with Honours programme noted that the talk was beneficial for all students, given the popularity and importance of IT careers in today’s world.

By the end of the workshop, attendees were equipped with the knowledge to compare and contrast these technologies across various cloud computing platforms, enhancing their understanding of how to leverage them effectively in the industry.
