BUILD YOUR FIRST MACHINE LEARNING MODEL WITH CLOUD COMPUTING

A workshop titled “Build Your First Machine Learning Model with Cloud Computing” on 23rd April 2025 under the Faculty of Computer Science and Technology.
Hernando Ivan Teddy, Senior Software Engineer at Ørsted Malaysia, introduced the basics of machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) and provided a hands-on demonstration using Google Colab, a cloud computing platform. Participants learned key concepts such as supervised learning, unsupervised learning, sentiment analysis, and reinforcement learning. Hernando also demonstrated how to classify text using Support Vector Machine (SVM) and apply Term Frequency-Inverse Document Frequency (TF-IDF) for text vectorization.
“I learned about machine learning and how pandas are used with linear SVM or SVC and the power of Google Colab from this workshop,” noted Jashlienne Quisha San Pedro from Bachelor of Software Engineering (Honours).
The workshop provided attendees with valuable skills and insights into Machine Learning, inspiring ideas for future projects in AI and Cloud Computing.
