Establishing Academia Link – Internship Visit at Silverlake Axis

The Faculty of Computer Science and Technology conducted an industrial visit to Silverlake Axis Sdn. Bhd.The visit was part of an internship supervision initiative to ensure students receive meaningful, industry-relevant training. Chen Kai Liang, a student from the Bachelor of Software Engineering (Honours) programme, is currently undergoing a three-month internship with Silverlake’s IT Department.

Internship supervisors Dr. Muhammad Hanafi Bin Yusop and Mr. Sukri Mohd Taib met with the company’s internship supervisor, Mr. Kuah Wei Yek, to discuss the student’s progress and contributions. Mr. Kuah commended Chen for his commitment and problem-solving abilities.

Chen then delivered a detailed internship presentation outlining his tasks under two departments: the AAMS Team, where she resolved tickets and developed HR-related system functions, and the Release Management Team, where he managed bank software releases, validated GitLab commits, and deployed materials using Jenkins. He also attended training on Mobius II, an upcoming AI-driven banking platform, gaining exposure to tools like iAPI, VCOS, and CI/CD pipelines.

The faculty expressed satisfaction with the student’s performance and recommended deeper collaboration with Silverlake Axis to expand future internship placements. “Working here has helped me understand the demands of enterprise software development. It’s been an eye-opening experience,” shared Chen Kai Liang. “We’re proud to host committed interns like Chen who are ready to learn and contribute,” added Mr. Kuah Wei Yek.
