On 20 May 2024, six students from the Faculty of Business, Hospitality & Communication attended a talk on Career Opportunities in the Hotel Industry with Minor Hotels Group, held at the Function Room. The attendees included Lee Jia Qian and Chee Wai Ping from BBA (Honours) Hospitality Management, Guat Vichy and Chee U Hock Keyan from the Diploma in Hotel Management, Chee Wai Ling from BA (Hons) Business Management, and Nicholas Lim Chin Yang from BSC (Hons) Accounting and Finance.

Ms. Juphin Dhammakul, Learning Manager of Anantara Desaru Coast Resorts and Villas, a brand under Minor Hotels, began the session with an introduction to Minor Hotels, providing an overview of the company and its global presence. She highlighted the diverse brands under Minor Hotels, including Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas, AVANI Hotels & Resorts, Oaks Hotels & Resorts, NH Hotels, Tivoli Hotels & Resorts, and the Elewana Collection.

The talk covered various career paths within Minor Hotels. Ms. Dhammakul discussed career progression and growth opportunities within the company, sharing success stories and testimonials from current employees. Students also learned about international placements and rotations, gaining insight into working in different cultural and geographical settings. The session provided valuable information on applying for internships at Minor Hotels, including the necessary resume and referral letter from the university.

Guat Vichy, a student from the Diploma in Hospitality Management programme remarked, “The talk was incredibly insightful and well-structured.
