GRAPHIC DESIGN STUDENTS EXPLORE RISOGRAPH PRINTING AT BANG BANG ZINE

The BA (Honours) in Graphic Design students experienced the art of risograph printing in a hands-on workshop by Bang Bang Zine on 27th February 2025. Co-founders Mun Yeong and Chya Chyi guided students through the eco-friendly printing process, known for its bold colours, layered textures, and sustainable rice-bran oil-based inks.
Students experimented with layer separation, colour blending, and composition, creating unique two-colour postcards using fluorescent pink and blue inks. “I was excited to see my idol come to life through risograph printing,” shared Teng Jin Hoong.
By engaging with a traditional yet contemporary printing method, the BA (Honours) in Graphic Design students gained valuable insights into manual production techniques, pushing them to think critically about colour theory, layout, and sustainable design practices. The experience allowed them to see how risograph printing continues to be a relevant and innovative medium in today’s design industry.
