InnoVerse 2025 – Turning Sparks into Revolutions

The Faculty of Computer Science and Technology held its annual graduation showcase, InnoVerse 2025, on 27 August 2025. The event highlighted innovative projects under the theme Turning Sparks into Revolutions, showing how ideas can become real-world solutions.

Interim Dean Lye Boon Han and Ahmad Fuad Kamarazaman, Board Director (Academia Relation), ISC2 Malaysia Chapter, opened the event. Lye encouraged students to use Artificial Intelligence to enhance creativity, while Ahmad Fuad emphasized the importance of cybersecurity. Projects spanned Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, Electronic and Mechanical Engineering, and Mechatronics. Judges from Sapura Defence, Accenture, and Axai Digital gave feedback, reinforcing the faculty’s project-based learning.

Winners reflected creativity and perseverance. Foo Cheong Jun, final-year Electronic Engineering student, received the Industry Choice Award (Engineering) for his Piezoelectric Energy Harvesting System, saying, “I feel very happy because I can see that my hard work has paid off. I was inspired by Japan’s implementation of a similar project and was grateful for the constructive feedback to improve it further.”

Wong Shan Kang, sixth-semester IT student, won the Industry Choice Award (Computing) with UniTrade: A Digital Trading Platform, sharing, “This award boosted my confidence. The idea came from seeing how my roommate’s costly assignment items often went to waste, so I wanted to maximize their value.”

The Most Popular Project Award went to Goh En Qi (Computer Science) and Jashlienne Quisha San Pedro (Software Engineering) for WazePal: An AI Integration, The Future of Waze. Goh reflected, “Winning this award motivates us to innovate more. We gained insights from judges, improved our presentation skills, and feel more confident about our career paths.”

InnoVerse 2025 bridged academia and industry, giving students a platform to showcase innovation, sharpen skills, and network with experts while reinforcing First City University College’s mission to nurture creative, industry-ready graduates.
