Life in Cards Workshop Brings Narrative Writing to Life

On 5, 16, and 23 June 2026, the Centre for Language and Extension Service conducted Life in Cards: Narrative Writing, an interactive workshop that transformed English language learning into a creative storytelling experience for students from the Foundation, Business, and Design programmes.
Inspired by the concept of the Game of Life, students worked in groups to build imaginative stories using life-event cards. As they developed and presented their “Life Stories”, they strengthened their narrative writing, speaking, creativity, and critical thinking skills while applying key language elements such as structure, descriptive language, and appropriate tense usage.
By combining play-based learning with academic writing, the workshop demonstrated that learning English can be both enjoyable and meaningful, helping students build confidence while developing essential communication skills for their academic and future professional journeys.
