Speak to Survive Workshop Strengthens Students’ Communication and Persuasion Skills

The Centre for Language and Extension Service organised the “Speak to Survive: Communication and Persuasion” workshop on 8 April 2026 for Diploma students.
Using a role-based social deduction game, students practised articulating ideas, defending viewpoints, and responding spontaneously in dynamic discussions. The session emphasised persuasive techniques, active listening, and adapting communication strategies based on context and audience.
Students found the experience engaging. Lim Jia Xing from the Diploma in Interior Design shared, “I learned how to listen carefully to small details and I realised that the tone and choice of words matter a lot when trying to convince others.” Ho Ji Yao from the Diploma in Mass Communication added, “I learned how to give reasons and defend my opinions.”
The workshop strengthened students’ confidence and ability to communicate effectively, supporting the development of articulate and industry-ready graduates.
