UNLOCKING POTENTIAL: FEC’S COLLABORATIVE EVENT WITH AWS, MYSTARTUP, AND KABEL

On 1 November 2023, a highly rewarding collaborative event was brought together by First City University College’s Faculty of Engineering & Computing (FEC), MYSTARTUP, KABEL, and Amazon Web Services (AWS). The event titled “Coffee Chat with KABEL”, was well attended by FEC students, led by Assistant Professors Ir. Mah Siew Kien, Ir. Dr. Tay Ching En Marcus, Sherryn Lim Wen-I, and other FEC faculty members.

The event featured an informative presentation by Ms. Soh Kelly, Principal Customer Solutions Manager at AWS. She provided valuable insights into how Customer Solutions Management (CSM) contributes to the success of customers on their cloud journey. The presentation covered essential topics such as database management for data storage, software licensing, open-source software, and the significance of collaboration with partners. These insights are expected to prove instrumental in the students’ pursuit of excellence in the fields of engineering and computing.

In the spirit of supporting the FEC students in their post-graduation journey, the event also offered them a glimpse into the work culture at AWS. Additionally, Kabel, a job matching app, was on hand to facilitate connections between students and potential employers for job placement or internship opportunities.

By the end of the day, the students not only gained a competitive edge within their engineering and computing disciplines through the informative presentations but were also exposed to a diverse range of career opportunities, thanks to the contributions of Mystartup, Kabel, and AWS.
