VISIT TO MALACHI-TEX 2024 – EXPLORING TEXTILE INDUSTRY INNOVATIONS
On 26 June 2024, students and staff from the Faculty of Design and Built Environment visited the Malachi-Tex 2024 exhibition held at Kompleks MITEC. The participants included 10 students from the BA (Hons) in Fashion Marketing programme, accompanied by five faculty staff members: Sharifah Mazwari, Soon Tet Suan, Grace, Nazima binti Abdullah, Victor Khoo Wooi Taik, and Hasry@Hosny Bin Hassim.
This event, the first of its kind to be held in Malaysia, was organised by the Malaysia Senators Council and certified by the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives. The event provided a comprehensive platform for all textile industry needs with the aim of fostering collaboration between Malaysian textile and apparel businesses and international markets.
At Malachi-Tex 2024, the students explored the exhibition’s wide range of products and services from about 150 suppliers. They observed new textile solutions and sustainable practices that are shaping the industry’s future. This exposure helped them understand the complexities and opportunities within the global textile market.
The visit to Malachi-Tex 2024 enhanced the students’ understanding of the textile industry and provided them with practical insights relevant to their academic and professional careers. This experience also deepened their appreciation for the global textile market.
