DESIGN INNOVATION SHINES AT FIRST CITY UNIVERSITY COLLEGE’S SEQUENCE 2024

First City University College has once again demonstrated its dominance in Design education with the much-anticipated unveiling of SEQUENCE 2024 at the First City Hall. This exceptional event, organized by the Faculty of Design, Built & Environment, featured outstanding projects by graduating students from various disciplines, including BA (Hons) in Graphic Design, BA (Hons) Furniture & Product Design, BA (Hons) Interior Architecture & Design, BA (Hons) in Fashion Marketing, as well as the Diploma in Interior Design and Diploma in Graphic Design programmes.

Esteemed guests, including the former Rector of the National Academy of Arts, Culture & Heritage, Prof. Ts Dr. Ruslan Abdul Rahim, First City University College’s Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Saw Sor Heoh, Dean of the Faculty of Design & Built Environment Assistant Professor Chua Huwi Huwi, along with numerous industry partners, honoured the event with their presence at the launch.

In her welcome speech, Prof. Dr. Saw commended the Faculty of Design and Built Environment for successfully orchestrating the 22nd edition of the showcase. She commended the faculty’s dedication to excellence, noting the numerous accolades and achievements earned by both students and faculty members.

A renowned figure in the design industry, Prof. Ts Dr. Ruslan Abdul Rahim inaugurated the showcase, extending his congratulations to the students for their inspiring projects and achievements. “I am thoroughly impressed by how SEQUENCE has successfully brought togehter projects from various design fields into a single showcase. The diversity on display is truly brilliant,” he remarked.

The launch of SEQUENCE 2024 began with a mesmerizing opening gimmick depicting the theme “In Full Bloom”, transitioning seamlessly into the SQ 2024 Showreel, which provided an insightful introduction to the graduates’ impressive work. Highlights of the event included the presentation of the Best Student Awards and an exhilarating fashion show, where models showcased outstanding pieces created by the current and graduating Fashion Marketing students.
