Vanessa Yong Phei Ling was beaming with pride and joy when she was crowned the Overall Grand Champion of the 2022 International Chinese Qi Pao Beauty Pageant.

The star-studded pageant was held on 29 April 2022 at the Copper Mansion in Petaling Jaya.

Vanessa, a final year student in the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Marketing programme at First City UC, will now represent Malaysia in the next series of pageant to be held in Taiwan. The winning was meaningful for Vanessa as she beat all the other contestants from other categories to emerge as the Overall Grand Champion.

Vanessa, who hails from Kuala Lumpur, aspires to take-up modelling as her full-time career. She also hopes to be a social media influencer where she could be a role model to her followers. While she is doing very well academically in her current studies, she hopes to pursue a career in modelling for now before thinking of venturing into business in the future.

Asked if her modelling career is in agreement with the marketing degree that she is currently pursuing, Vanessa quipped, ‘Like many I hope to be a beauty with brains. I don’t think my degree qualification will go to waste’.
