BECOME HIGHLY SOUGHT-AFTER MEDIA & HOSPITALITY PROFESSIONALS
With over 30 years of experience, First City University College’s Faculty of Business, Hospitality & Communication (FBHC) has succeeded into transforming many students into graduates capable of landing jobs in the Media and Hospitality industries.
This success is owed to FBHC’s industry-relevant curriculum and a team of academic staff equipped with a wealth of working experience.
Students holding a Foundation, UEC or A-Level qualification will be enrolled into Year 1 of FDBE’s Bachelor Degree programme whereas students with a relevant Diploma will gain progression into Year 2.
The BA (Honours) Mass Communication programme equips students with the relevant skills and in-depth knowledge to meet the challenging demands of Malaysia’s media and communications industry. To achieve this goal, students will regularly participate in projects, practical assignments and research work.
To develop individual skills in areas such as multimedia, digital communication, digital publishing, photojournalism, and project management, they will undergo specialised lectures and classes. These include Public Speaking, Fundamentals of Public Relations, Journalism Studies and Media Planning.
More importantly, they will develop essential soft skills in teamwork, leadership, an entrepreneurial mindset and problem-solving. The mandatory internship module will serve as an opportune time for them to hone their skills.
With these advantages at hand, graduates of this programme can confidently pursue careers in fields such as Broadcasting, Journalism, Public Relations, Social Media Marketing, Publication, Editorial, Event Planning and many more.
Various state-of-the-art learning facilities such as the Recording Studio are made available to First City UC’s Mass Communication students.
Students are using the Mock Hotel Facility to familiarise themselves with the responsibilities of a hotel’s employees.
Meanwhile, the Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) (Hospitality Management) programme transforms students into graduates capable of thriving in today’s dynamic and demanding hospitality and tourism industry.
To match these exacting standards, students will learn and gain mastery in skills in event & recreation management, hotel & resort management, tourism planning, cross-cultural management, and marketing.
To boost students’ familiarity with the workplace location, students are provided the well-maintained Mock Hotel and Training Kitchen learning facilities for their lessons.
Moreover, students will have opportunities to further develop their communication, teamwork, leadership, entrepreneurial, social, and problem-solving skills during their internship module.
By doing so, they will maximise their chances of landing jobs in areas such as Hotel & Resort Management, Food & Beverage, Event Management, Travel & Tour Management, Entertainment & Recreation as well as Marketing and Sales Management.
