CONEXUS: DIPLOMA GRADUATES SHOWCASE 2016

DESIGN SHOWCASE BY PROUD DIPLOMA GRADUATES

Sixteen students from the Faculty of Design & Built Environment in First City University College (First City UC) displayed their design artworks in the annual Diploma Graduate Showcase 2016, which was held from 27th to 29th April 2016 at the campus’ premise in Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya.

The showcase—the first of its biannual organization by the faculty since the institution was elevated to a university college—was themed “Conexus”, a combination of the words ‘Connection’ and ‘Nexus’. The theme evolved from the idea that diploma students who are studying at the campus pursuing different programmes within the faculty coming together to work on this project and making a connection as a team as they complete their programmes.

The 3-day event showcased the students’ accumulative artworks throughout their study period from two programmes; 9 from Diploma of Interactive Design and 7 from Diploma in Interior Design. The event logo was designed to reflect the set theme in that the 16 students symbolised as dots are connected to form a visual of the eye’s pupil and iris; an interpretation of the vision for their future.

James Freer, the president of the students’ committee said, “This showcase has been a learning curve for our whole team and we can’t think of a better way to conclude our diploma course. We are all positive that everything that we have gone through together will be useful for our future undertakings.”

The showcase, which was open to the public also attracted visitors comprising the students’ proud parents who were able to view the outcome of their children’s education journey and representatives from companies within the design industry who are looking for employable fresh talents.
