FIRST CITY UNIVERSITY COLLEGE WELCOMES NEW STUDENTS WITH ENGAGING ORIENTATION PROGRAMME

The first day for the new students joining the June 2024 intake at First City University College was truly unforgettable. The Student Services Department orchestrated an informative and exciting Orientation Programme, ensuring that the newcomers not only acquired essential information but also immediately felt a sense of belonging on campus.

The welcoming event featured a diverse range of engaging activities and enlightening sessions. The programme began with a Mass Call for the June 2024 intake, graced by the presence of Senior Registrar Lye Boon Han, representing the Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Saw Sor Heoh, along with the Deans of the faculties and Heads of Departments and Centres.

In his address, Mr. Lye extended a warm welcome to the new students and offered valuable guidance on how to make the most of their educational journey at First City University College. Additionally, welcoming speeches were given by Assistant Professor Chua Huwi Huwi, Dean of the Faculty of Design & Built Environment; Mr. David Foo Sek Kuan, Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science & Technology; and Ms. S. Komlavathi, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Business, Hospitality & Communication.

In the spirit of a warm welcome, the Inferno Cheerleading Team delivered a splendid performance for the new students. The afternoon session then took an energetic turn with team-building activities and icebreaker games, all skillfully organized by the Student Council. These interactive sessions encouraged students to step out of their comfort zones, collaborate with peers, and forge strong bonds within their respective groups.

The June 2024 Orientation Programme has effectively cultivated an atmosphere of inclusivity and camaraderie, leaving the students well-prepared to embrace the multitude of opportunities and experiences that await them at First City University College.
