Master of Business Management (MBA)
Offered by the Faculty of Business, Hospitality and Communication Studies (FBHCS) since 2014, the Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme is popular choice among postgraduates.
Graduates of this progarmme. will be equipped with the skills and mindset required to join a world-class business. Successful graduates can confidently take on grueling managerial roles such as Management Consultant, Operations Director, Investment Banker, Marketing Director etc.
First City UC’s MBA programme further strengthened through a well-established education partnership with the United Kingdom’s Anglia Ruskin University (ARU). As a result, graduates will receive a certificate from ARU as well upon completion of their studies.
Over the span of 1 year (full-time students) or 2 years (part-time students), students will be instructed on business management skills and strategies necessary for navigating today’s business world. Such knowledge is required to work in a setting characterized by strong global competition and constant change in technology.
Moreover, students will be exposed to case studies of real life business crises and solutions in order enhance their critical thinking skills.
Saeed Ahmed, a full-time student from the Maldives is extremely satisfied with the MBA programme. He explained that the programme allowed him to improve on his verbal and non-verbal communication skills as a result of his participation in open discussions as well as group work.
Saeed added that his presenting skills were refined thanks to the number of group and individual presentations he gave during his studies. Before signing up for the MBA, he had always felt uncomfortable while presenting.

Master of Design Management
Offered by the Faculty of Design & Built Environment (FDBE), the Master of Design Management programme (1 year for full-time students, 2 years for part-time students), trains students to expand their disciplinary knowledge to fields like branding, design thinking, entrepreneurship and design innovation.
Design or fashion students looking to go into business will be pleased to know that this is the first and only programme in Malaysia that combines academic study with creative and professional practice. The curriculum itself emphasizes on student’s projects which cover a wide of interdisciplinary perspectives including business and entrepreneurship.
This form of learning has impressed Wayne Ng, one of the current students of this Master programme. He expressed that he enjoyed the classes, especially those taught by guest lecturers with extensive professional experience and industrial expertise under their belts.
Meanwhile, graduates of this programme can look forward to taking on positions such as a Strategic Design Analyst, User Experience Manager, Brand Consultant/Strategist, Digital Creative Director, Product Development Manager, Integrated Art Director, Innovative Product Entrepreneur, Visual Information Specialist and many more related jobs!
One of students looking for such an opportunity is Mike Teo, a full-time student who also works as a lecturer. During his studies, he realized his interest for creating businesses and solving problems from a design management point of view.
He added that there were a number of investors and collaborators who were keen to work with him to introduce new business concepts and products into the market.
“The valuable guidance I received from my lecturers and industry experts will form the cornerstone for my future plans. Our course projects not only have to be innovative but also relevant and commercially viable in the industry,” Teo explained.
