DESIGNING THE FUTURE AT ZERO FEES
According to Robert L. Peters, “Design creates culture. Culture shapes values. Values determine the future.” This quote embodies everything First City University College aspires to be: producing quality graduates who are able to create innovative design and add value to people’s lives and the world around them. The institution takes pride in its design programmes that offer holistic design education – combining its experience in running UK franchised programmes for over 20 years, harnessing on the vast knowledge and teaching ability of its academic staff and complementing it with state-of-the-art facilities and equipment such as 3D printers, laser cutter and Macintosh laboratories.
At the Faculty of Design and Built Environment, First City UC offers Foundation in Art & Design programme with pathways to pursue further undergraduate studies in Graphic Design, Interior Architecture and Design and Furniture and Product Design. During the one-year programme, students will be exposed to a general art and design education to enable them to gain experience and knowledge in practical studio work, 2D and 3D design, research and writing skills for design. The modules are specially-crafted so as to develop student’s skills on visual analysis, fundamental drawing, colour studies, research and critical writing skills. Once they complete the course, they would be able to start Year 1 of the degree programme of their choice.
Alternatively, students with strong interest and inclination for art and design can opt to pursue specialised two-year diploma programmes in Interactive Design and Interior Design. Upon graduation, they possess an advanced standing to continue to Year 2 of any design degree programme at First City UC.

Strong Industry Collaboration
The faculty is well-known for its collaboration with reputable university in the United Kingdom and strong industrial linkages which provide real-life experience in the industry in its effort to provide the best learning experience for students, allowing them to explore and work on actual projects outside the usual theatre lectures.
