ENHANCING CYBERSECURITY EDUCATION – FACULTY OF COMPUTER SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY HOSTS PROGRAMME REVIEW AND INDUSTRY ADVISORY PANEL MEETING

On 12 July 2024, the Faculty of Computer Science and Technology hosted a Programme Review Development Committee Meeting and Industry Advisory Panel Meeting for the Bachelor of Information Technology (Networking and Security) (Hons) programme. The event, organised by Siti Azirah Binti Azhari; programme coordinator, included 15 staff members and two industry experts from LGMS Berhad: Jeffery Low, Senior Cyber Security Consultant, and Issabell Tang, Training Manager.

This collaborative effort aimed to ensure the curriculum remains relevant to current industry needs and trends. Following the main meeting, a separate detailed discussion was held between the dean Asst. Prof. Foo Sek Kuan, David, and the representatives from LGMS Berhad. This session focused on further strengthening the partnership and exploring potential collaborative initiatives.

Jeffery Low, Senior Cyber Security Consultant of LGMS Berhad, remarked, “The program structure and academic syllabus fulfill the industry needs in cybersecurity,”. Issabell Tang added, “Professional certification will add value to the student’s learning experience and prepare them for a career in cybersecurity.”

This collaboration sets a high standard for integrating academic excellence with practical industry insights, ultimately benefiting both students and the broader cybersecurity field.
