EXPLORING INDUSTRY TRENDS AT MALAYSIA INTERNATIONAL FOOD & BEVERAGE TRADE SHOW

On 17 July 2024, students from the Faculty of Business, Hospitality & Communication at First City University College attended the Malaysia International Food & Beverage Trade Show at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. The event, organised by Constellar Exhibitions Malaysia Sdn Bhd, provided a valuable platform for students to engage with the latest trends and innovations in the food and beverage industry.

The trade show featured dynamic discussions on coffee market trends led by Associate Prof Dr Daniel Chong Ka Leong from Sunway University. Another highlight was “The Future Chefs Table,” which showcased live cooking demonstrations by award-winning chefs, including Chef John from Roots, in collaboration with Graze Market and the Embassy of Ukraine. Students also explored various exhibition booths from international vendors representing countries such as China, Vietnam, Greece, and Latvia, offering insights into unique food ingredients and products.

Lee Jia Qian, a Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) (Hospitality Management) student, remarked, “Networking with vendors and exhibitors was a highlight. It gave me insights into the practical aspects of running food and beverage operations.” Guat Vichy, a Diploma in Hotel Management student, added, “Seeing the latest trends in the food and beverage industry was inspiring. It gave me new ideas for future projects and assignments.”

The event provided a wealth of knowledge and inspiration, enhancing students’ understanding of industry developments and preparing them for future careers in the hospitality and food and beverage sectors.
