FACULTY OF BUSINESS AND COMMUNICATION STUDENTS ATTEND SCRIPTWRITING WORKSHOP

Students and lecturers from the Faculty of Business and Communication at First City University College participated in the “From Idea to Screen” workshop, which provided a practical introduction to scriptwriting for short films, advertisements, and vlogs. The session was led by an experienced industry professional who guided participants through the journey from idea development to final script, covering structure, character creation, and storytelling techniques.

The workshop emphasized adapting writing for different purposes, audiences, and platforms, showing how to build emotion in short films, craft punchy messages for advertisements, and maintain authenticity in vlogs. Participants engaged in hands-on exercises including brainstorming, group scriptwriting, and receiving live feedback, while also learning about visual planning through storyboarding and shot lists. The experience allowed students to directly apply concepts and gain confidence in their creative abilities.

“It was such a fun and hands-on experience. Working in teams to develop our own scripts gave me the confidence to start writing my own content,” said Gabriella Fauzia. Nicole Leong added, “I used to think advertisements were just quick and easy, but now I see how much thought goes into every second. This session changed my whole perspective.”

The workshop offered students from the Faculty of Business and Communication valuable skills for content creation and a deeper understanding of the creative industry.
