First City University College and the Chungbuk Health & Science University (CHSU), Korea inked a Memorandum of Understanding recently.

“This memorandum of understanding will pave the way for collaborations in areas such as facilitating student exchange programmes, referral and preparatory training before enrolment to partner’s institution and promotion of Taekwondo sport in Malaysia,” said First City UC’s Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mak Chai.

He added that this MoU will further strengthen First City UC’s position as the premier higher learning institution.

Some of the areas that both the parties are looking into in terms of collaboration would be; short-term placement of CHSU students at First City UC to learn Business English and Business Management skills to increase their employability, organise study tours and cultural experiences and Korean language preparation for students who intend to study in Korea.

First City UC will also look into promoting “Taekwondo” sports to schools and colleges and organising ‘Taekwondo” workshop and tournaments.

For the signing ceremony, First City UC was represented by Prof Dr Mak Chai, Vice-Chancellor, Ms Yeong Yin Cheng (Chief Operating Officer), Mr Lye Boon Han (Registrar), Ms Florence Kuek (Head, Student Affairs and Services Department), Dr Anne Ho ( Dean, Faculty of Arts and Services Department), Dr Christine Lee (Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Computing) and Ms Pauline Cheah (Head, Centre for Language and Extension Services).

Professor Park, Yong-seok (President, Public Administration), Professor Lee, Youn-su (Head Director of International Cooperation) and Professor Kwon Hyuk Joung (Dean, Department of Taekwondo Diplomacy) represented the Chungbuk Health & Science University.

Datuk Lee Jin Bok (Tourism Advisor & Ambassador, Ministry of Tourism and Culture Malaysia and Korea) and Master Lee Byung Hee, (Korean Government, Kukkiwon Dispatch Taekwondo Master) were also present at the signing of MoU.
