FIRST CITY UNIVERSITY COLLEGE: A CELEBRATION OF SUCCESS

 

PETALING JAYA, 21st October 2018 – First City University College held its 23rd Annual Graduation ceremony for graduates from Diploma, Degree and Post-graduate studies. They attained their much-coveted scrolls from various disciplines including Business Administration, Business Management, Accounting & Finance, Marketing, Design & Built Environment and Engineering & Computing.

The event was graced by the presence of First City University College’s top management; namely its Chancellor, YgBhg Tan Sri Dato Seri Dr Hj Yahaya bin Ibrahim, Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Mak Chai, Board of Governors’ Chairman, YgBhg Tan Sri Dato’ IR Teo Chiang Kok, Chief Operating Officer, Ms Yeong Yin Cheng and staff of First City University College.

Representatives from First City University College’s foreign partner universities were also present at the ceremony. The distinguished guests include Mr Ian Larmour, Director, Hotel and Tourism Management Institute (HTMi), Switzerland, Proffesor Trevor Bolton, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Anglia Ruskin University, Dr. Clare Newstead, College International Manager, Nottingham Trent University and Ms Clare Lockwood, Head of Department of the School of Design, Sheffield Hallam University.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of “Student of the Year & Excellence Awards” by YgBhg Tan Sri Dato’ IR Teo Chiang Kok to 53 students who graduated with First-class Honours Bachelor Degrees and 6 students who graduated from Master and Business Administration Degrees with Distinction.

In his welcome address, Vice-Chancellor of First City University College, Professor Dr. Mak Chai extended his congratulations to the graduates “You have done yourselves, your parents, guardians and families proud. Besides yourselves, you owe your success just as much to their sacrifices and unwavering support”.

In encouraging continuous learning among graduates, Professor Dr. Mak Chai quoted Albert Einstein, “The man who graduates today and stops learning tomorrow is uneducated the day after”.

“In today’s highly technology-driven world of intense and unrelenting competition, survival requires one to be adaptable, forward looking and innovative, technologically savvy, and to possess a global mindset. My advice to you, is to confront these challenges courageously and devote yourself to lifelong learning”, he added.

Professor Dr. Mak Chai also emphasized on First City University College’s role as a premier institution of higher education and a trusted Brand for academic excellence. “We continuously engage, participate and collaborate with industries, professional bodies and business associations to provide up-to-date practical and real-world learning experiences, and internships for our students and as well as job placement assistance to our graduating students”.
