Getting Smart with ChatGPT: Students and Lecturers Explore the Future of Learning with AI

On 11th June 2025, the Centre for Language and Extension Service hosted a dynamic workshop titled “Getting Smart with ChatGPT: Learn, Create & Explore with AI!” Held at the Centre for Postgraduate Studies, the event brought together participants for an engaging session on the practical and responsible use of Artificial Intelligence in education.

Led by Ms. Yap Min Chen, the workshop covered essential topics such as the fundamentals of AI and ChatGPT, the benefits of AI in academic settings, prompt crafting techniques, and the ethical implications of AI use. A highlight of the session was the “Prompting Like a Pro” segment, which gave participants a hands-on understanding of how to frame questions and instructions for more effective AI responses. The event ended on a high note with a fun and competitive Kahoot quiz, where Jia Ru emerged as the winner.

“The session helped me understand how to use ChatGPT more professionally and effectively,” shared Leong Nicole from Diploma in Mass Communication. This workshop not only deepened participants’ knowledge of AI tools but also encouraged a critical and creative approach to using technology in their academic and professional journeys.
