GREEN LEARNING, KIND LIVING – TRANSFORMING BEHAVIOUR TO SAFEGUARD ANIMAL WELFARE

The Student Services Department and Centre for General Studies organised Green Learning, Kind Living: Transforming Behaviour to Safeguard Animal Welfare on 4th February 2025, raising awareness on human-wildlife coexistence.

Ms. Juliana Nordin from the Animal Neighbours Project (ANP) delivered a talk on human-wildlife coexistence, focusing on macaque behaviour. She highlighted key points such as distinguishing between a sleepy and warning yawn, the dangers of feeding monkeys, and the importance of proper waste management. An awareness booth was also held at Red Canvas engaging students through interactive games, including matching cards, snake games, and ball tossing.

Goh En Qi from Bachelor of Computer Science (Intelligent Systems) shared, “I’ve learned how urbanisation affects wildlife and how to coexist with animals responsibly. Conservation is about changing human behaviour, not just protecting animals.”

The event, supported by WWF-Malaysia and Iskandar Investment Berhad under the Eco Champion Awards (ECA), successfully raised awareness on responsible wildlife interactions.
