Inspiring Future Designers: Insights from Digital Illustrator Nur Liyana Mohammunny

The Faculty of Design & Built Environment hosted Ms. Nur Liyana Mohammunny on 10 March 2026 at First City University College. A full-time illustrator, entrepreneur, and live content creator, Ms. Nur Liyana founded her own illustrated stationery brand, contributed to the children’s book Jelly’s Ocean Adventure, and was featured in The Sun LYFE. She shared insights on developing a creative identity, personal style, and turning artistic passion into a sustainable career.
Students found the session inspiring. Lim Ying Tsern said, “The sharing session was truly meaningful and inspiring for me. As a student still on my learning journey, feeling anxious about the future is natural. Through Yana’s sharing, I learned that by taking the first step, continuing to learn, and developing our own style, the future becomes less intimidating.”
The session provided students with practical guidance, creative strategies, and industry insights, enhancing skills, confidence, and career readiness while reinforcing the university’s commitment to nurturing industry-ready talent.
