LEADERSHIP AND WELL-BEING WORKSHOP – CULTIVATING CONFIDENCE THROUGH A POSITIVE MINDSET

On 28 May 2025, new students at First City University College attended the “Positive Mind, Positive Leadership” workshop organised by the Student Services Department. Led by Mr. Weladavi Rahula and Ms. Teh Chia Li, the session aimed to help students discover their leadership potential while reinforcing mental resilience. Mr. Rahula challenged common leadership myths to show that leadership is about mindset, not just personality. A short quiz helped students explore their leadership styles in a fun, reflective way.

Ms. Teh continued the workshop by introducing healthy coping strategies for managing stress. Students took part in a group activity that encouraged them to develop creative, supportive solutions for someone facing emotional difficulties, reinforcing the idea that positive thinking and empathy are key to effective leadership.

Reflecting on the session, Fow Seng Joe, a student from the Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering with Honours programme, shared, “I have learned a lot about resilience and useful coping strategies through this workshop. Most importantly, I have learned that leadership can be achieved through small deeds, like helping my friends and so on.”

The workshop offered participants a fresh, practical perspective on leadership—one rooted in self-awareness, compassion and action.
