Publish or Perish! Equipping Students And Staff with Essential Research and Publishing Skills

The “Publish or Perish!” talk by Prof Dr Vincent Wee Eng Kim, organised by the Centre for Postgraduate Studies at First City University College, brought together students and staff for an engaging and insightful session on academic publishing.

Through practical sharing and real-world perspectives, participants gained a clearer understanding of how to develop research ideas, structure academic writing, and navigate the publishing process. The session also provided actionable strategies to help transform ideas into meaningful research outputs while building confidence in scholarly work.

Held at the Function Room, the talk is part of the Centre for Postgraduate Studies’ ongoing efforts to build a strong research culture, complementing the university’s annual Research Seminar, which provides a platform for staff and research students to present their work, exchange ideas, and explore collaborative research opportunities.
