It was a truly enriching experience for 86 students from the Diploma in Interior Design and BA (Hons) Interior Architecture & Design programmes who visited the REKA Interiors Exhibition 2023 (RiX ) on 27 October 2023 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC).
RiX was an integral part of REKA Design Week, an annual event by Malaysian Institute of Interior Designers (MIID).
The students, along with seven faculty members led by Dean of Faculty of Design & Built Environment Assistant Professor Chua Huwi Huwi, embarked on a journey of exploration and enlightenment. RiX turned out to be a melting pot of ideas, creativity, and innovation, offering students a rich and diverse learning experience.
One of the key takeaways from this event was the exposure to cutting-edge design concepts and the latest trends in the interior design industry. Students had the opportunity to witness innovative and breathtaking design solutions that challenged conventional aesthetics, broadening their perspectives on what’s possible within the field.
Furthermore, RiX facilitated direct interaction with industry professionals through forums, industry talks, discussions, and networking sessions. This inspired the students and opened doors for potential future collaborations.
RiX also served as a treasure trove of new products and materials used in unconventional ways. This exposure was invaluable, as it allowed students to expand their knowledge and creativity in using materials in their design projects.
