Visit to Busana – Traditional Costumes of the Malay World

Students from Bachelor Of Arts (Honours) In Fashion Marketing visited Busana: Traditional Costumes of the Malay World on 21 January 2026.

They were exposed to various traditional textiles such as songket, limar, batik, telepuk and tenun, as well as embroidery techniques including kelingkan and tekat. The exhibition also demonstrated how traditional costumes function beyond clothing and the influence of Islamic art and values through the use of geometric patterns and harmonious motifs.

Overall, this field trip enhanced students’ appreciation of fashion heritage and strengthened their understanding of traditional costume as an important cultural and historical legacy.
