On 23 May 2024, the Marriott Career Festival hosted by Le Meridien KL Sentral saw enthusiastic participation from students of the various disciplines from the Faculty of Business, Hospitality & Communication.

The event, attended by students from Segi College Kuala Lumpur, Politeknik Metro Kuala Lumpur, and First City University College, was a remarkable blend of learning and fun.

The day began with a warm welcome from Micheal Delargy, the General Manager of Le Meridien Kuala Lumpur. Following the introduction, students were divided into six groups for an exciting Amazing Race activity, fostering camaraderie among participants from different institutions. The race took students through six key departments: Laundry, Pool Bar, Front Office, Banquet, Housekeeping, and Safety and Security.

Students had hands-on experiences, such as creating mocktails, folding towels into swans, assembling safety uniforms, and setting banquet tables. These activities provided invaluable practical insights into hotel operations, far beyond the traditional classroom learning.

Grace Gwee Shi Jie shared, “I had fun playing the amazing race with my friends. I met some interns here and I am thinking to have Le Meridien as my intern placement.” Adrian Nathan Thomas added, “Experiencing different activities in different departments in a hotel is better than just learning in the classroom. It’s more exciting and memorable.”

The Marriott Career Festival proved to be an enriching and enjoyable experience, leaving students inspired and eager for their future careers in the hospitality industry.
