With more than two decades of academic excellence, First City UC takes pride in its design events by striving in commitment to meet the demand for creative designers by highlighting top-notch graduates who will be assets to the design industry.

Professor Dr. Mak Chai, First City UC’s Vice-Chancellor, said in his opening speech “The Stardust exhibition is to present the achievements of the students to industrial partners for a strong support.”

The event saw wearable works of art presented by the Diploma in Interactive Design as a part of their syllabus study. The thirteen (13) pairs of canvas shoes are all designed and painted by the students and were displayed eye-catchingly.

The ongoing three-day public viewing exhibition features thirty-five (35) outstanding creations produced by the Art & Design diploma students, exploring the influence of their experiences and skills developed in First City UC over their final year project. The fourteen (14) weeks ‘LIVE’ projects proposed by a Creative and Communication industry partner were not only accomplished successfully but have also wowed the attended industry partners and other attendees.

At the event, the Art & Design diploma students’ ingenious design creations comprised various brands from carbonated beverage, bread spread, cosmetic to sweet confectionery that served a focal point and platform at the ‘STARDUST’ exhibition as graduating students by exposing their portfolio to their parents, friends, public and potential employers.

Wong Kai Ying, a first class student in Diploma in Interior Design, presented her exhibit of pottery store and service concept shared, “It was a great experience organizing this event and working together as a group.

“And I have interest in making pottery art but here in Malaysia there aren’t many pottery stores or services for people to try out and I feel our country should have more pottery stores for people to understand it better, Wong added.”

The word ‘STARDUST’ in the title is shadowed by an innovative logo that signifies the exhibition. The theme of the showcase was expressed with a logo in the shape of a star to symbolize the students’ study journey in First City UC. The small star located in the middle of the logo signifies the beginning of their journey when the students started their studies. When viewed in its entirety, the star illustrates how the students have grown in wisdom and experience as they work together, united for this occasion.
