FROM CLASSROOM TO FARM: STUDENTS’ INSPIRING VOLUNTEERISM AT KEBUN-KEBUN BANGSAR
In an inspiring display of community spirit and environmental advocacy, three dedicated students Ong Sook Fun, Christine Siong Kai Sin and Lee Jia Qian, along with their lecturer Dr Ahmad Faris Naqiyuddin, embraced a meaningful volunteering opportunity on 16 March 2024. Their destination: Kebun-Kebun Bangsar, an organic veggie farm nestled in the heart of Bangsar, Selangor.
Immersing themselves in a day of hands-on farming activities, the students eagerly tackled tasks ranging from weeding to planting. However, their commitment transcended mere participation. Reflecting their compassion and selflessness, the students donated the proceeds from a recent fundraising endeavour, held on 26 February 2024, towards supporting the farm’s mission.
This act of generosity promises to make a tangible difference in the farm’s operations, amplifying its efforts towards nurturing and safeguarding the green environment. The students’ dedication to sustainable and organic farming practices serves as a beacon of inspiration, igniting hope for a greener future.
