The Industrial Advisors Visitation organised on 9 October 2023 by the Hospitality & Tourism Management (HTM) team, proved to be a rewarding event for students enrolled in the Diploma in Hotel Management and Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) in Hospitality Management programmes.

The event took place at Café De One and featured two distinguished Industrial Advisors, Joyce Ng, the Grand Club Manager at Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur, and Dr. Jonathan Lee, Training Manager at Gigi Coffee.

During the visit, both advisors shared their invaluable insights into the hospitality industry. Joyce and Dr. Jonathan discussed various aspects, including their personal career journeys, current industry trends, and the skills required to succeed in this field. They emphasized the industry’s versatility, highlighting the numerous career pathways it offers.

Students were treated to an eye-opening discussion on the benefits of a career in hospitality, such as opportunities to meet global VIPs and travel perks. The advisors also touched on the industry’s evolving work-life balance and the necessity of a personality test to help students discover which sector of the industry best suited their individual traits.

The visitation included a tour of HTM facilities, allowing the advisors to gain firsthand knowledge of the students’ learning environment. Additionally, there was a productive feedback and discussion session, exploring potential future collaborations between the advisors and the HTM programmes.
