ILLUMINATE, INSPIRE AND ACT – EARTH HOUR AT FIRST CITY UNIVERSITY COLLEGE

The Earth Hour event at First City University College on 23 March 2024 was an electrifying success, pulsating with enthusiasm and commitment towards environmental conservation. Hosted in the North Building (Heritage Building, the evening unfolded with a seamless blend of engaging sessions and heartfelt camaraderie.

As dusk settled, esteemed guests including Ms Sophia Lim, Executive Director/CEO of WWF-Malaysia, Prof Dr Saw Sor Heoh, First City University College’s Vice-Chancellor and Technologist Mohd Hilmi bin Abu Bakar, Deputy National Chief Commissioner of the Scouts Association of Malaysia, graced the occasion alongside other distinguished guests.

The event commenced with the opening speeches and remarks by WWF-Malaysia, First City University College, and the Scouts Association of Malaysia respectively, setting the stage for an evening of enlightenment and action. This was followed by a riveting Facebook Live Session that encapsulated the fervour of the gathering.

A captivating drumline performance added rhythm to the proceedings, further energizing the audience as they geared up for the symbolic moment of unity.

Amidst an atmosphere brimming with anticipation, participants indulged in a delightful ‘Buka Puasa’ break, accompanied by engaging videos that underscored the importance of Earth Hour and other environmental projects by WWF-Malaysia.

As the clock ticked closer to 8:55 PM, the anticipation peaked. Gathered in the Heritage Building foyer, attendees joined a heartening ‘Together Possible’ cheer, symbolizing collective determination towards a greener future. With lights off and spirits soaring, the countdown to Earth Hour culminated in a profound moment of solidarity.

The event concluded on a high note, leaving lasting impressions of unity and commitment to environmental stewardship. Everyone present reaffirmed their dedication to embracing a proactive role in shaping a greener, more sustainable future for generations to come.
