JOURNEY THROUGH ISLAMIC ART MASTERPIECE – THE ISLAMIC ARTS MUSEUM MALAYSIA
On 15 February 2024, four lecturers from the Faculty of Design and Built Environment—Norhayati Ibrahim, Hafeezah Mastura Zulkefli, Izzatul Hidayah Abdul Hamid, and Marsitee Endut—participated in a Curator Sharing Session on the masterpiece of the Islamic arts at the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur.
Renowned for its vast collection of Islamic art from around the world, the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia hosted these sessions to deepen participants’ understanding and appreciation of Islamic art, foster meaningful dialogue and the exchange of ideas among participants.
The four participants engaged in comprehensive discussions covering various aspects, including the artwork’s historical significance, artistic techniques employed, its cultural context, and its thematic relevance within the realm of Islamic art.
They also had the unique opportunity to delve into the origins of the specific artwork, its journey to becoming part of the museum’s esteemed collection, and any conservation efforts undertaken to ensure its preservation.
As the session drew to a close, the participants departed with a wealth of knowledge about the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia, having actively explored and interpreted the rich artistic heritage of the Islamic world.
